Determination of the positions of emitters is an important aspect in electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare. The growth of the techniques of direction finding has been an evolution from the earliest methods based on amplitude comparison to the very advanced methods of super resolution. This document gives an overview of the different methods of direction finding and emitter location particular relevant to Army electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare. The fundamental principle of the different methods and the way of working are described and explained.
