This report discusses the technological development of long range precision weapons. The weapon systems discussed will normally have a CEP less than 30 meters and a range of more than 100 km (including the platform). The report comprises an overview of sensors, platforms and general aspects of C4I systems. The weapon and its subsystems are evaluated more in depth. The latest development of seekers, airframe, warhead, navigation and propulsion are given. The precision makes it possible to use smaller warheads and thus smaller weapons. New technology based on COTS components may be used to make weapons cheaper. New supersonic missiles will appear to engage time critical targets. Countermeasures against long range precision weapons are discussed. Improvements are expected in camouflage, electronic countermeasures (jamming) and air defence.
